AMES Companies promotes Dan Charles to Head of Merchandising

We’re thrilled to announce the promotion of Dan Charles to Head of Merchandising.  

Dan has been an integral part of the existing merchandising team for eight years, and in this new role his experience will pay dividends and will help him to ensure that the wider team embraces and delivers the AMES merchandising team’s high standards. 

Identifying new solutions 

Dan’s first port of call will be to conduct a review of the complete portfolio of point of sale displays to assess their overall value and to identify new solutions for the future. In doing so, Dan hopes to achieve improved forecasting and logistic efficiencies, as well as smoother delivery and set-up of all merchandising displays to ensure that every customer has exactly what they need, when it’s needed most.   

Putting the customer first 

Speaking of his appointment, Dan Charles said: “I am immensely proud to be leading such a hardworking and dedicated team that always puts the customer at the heart of everything they do. I have no doubt that together we can truly bring to market an enhanced offering, and one that can help garden retailers to optimise sales of our market leading brands and latest product innovation across the aggregate, outdoor leisure and planter categories.” 

Leadership support 

Nick Jones, AMES Companies’ Commercial Director, added: “I’m delighted to confirm the promotion of Dan to Head of Merchandising. During his time at AMES Dan has worked across all operating companies within the business and will remain a key ambassador for the merchandising team both internally and externally.” 

New software to improve the customer journey 

Coinciding with Dan’s appointment will be the roll out of the all-new Pixsell software.  Representative of a significant financial investment into both software and the supporting hardware, Pixsell has been designed with the customer in mind and will serve to enhance the service that AMES currently offers.  

Through Pixsell, the complete merchandising team will have real time access to delivery information, stock availability, promotional activities, customer specific information and display guides. Armed with this information, they will be able to make more confident suggestions to customers, as well as capture, build and maintain a bank of data which will further enhance customer experience.
